What is Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)?
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence based therapy for parents and children, ages 2-8, who have frequent temper tantrums, don't follow directions, or show aggressive or defiant behavior. You are coached in real-time, through an ear pod, while interacting with your child and learning effective skills for managing behavior and strengthening your bond.
Research shows PCIT significantly reduces behavior problems and improves parenting confidence and stress levels (Eyberg et al., 2001; Thomas & Zimmer-Gembeck, 2007). It's especially helpful for families dealing with ADHD and oppositional behaviors (Lieneman et al., 2019). Most families see meaningful changes in 12-20 sessions.

Does Virtual PCIT Online Work?
Many parents wonder if doing PCIT online can really work, especially if their child doesn't do well with online formats or behaves better when someone is watching. Research shows virtual PCIT is as effective as in-person PCIT, and sometimes even more so, because it happens right in your child's natural home environment (Comer et al., 2017; Garbacz et al., 2021). The skills you learn are easier to apply to real life and therapists often see more authentic behaviors at home than in an office setting. Parents report high satisfaction with virtual PCIT, and many appreciate the convenience and flexibility it offers (Kees et al., 2021).
